Kids love to watch birds anytime of year! Why not make some unique bird feeder crafts with easy-to-find supplies? Bird watching and bird feeders go hand-in-hand. Bring nature and kids and crafting together with these easy bird feeder crafts for kids. Here are a couple of easy bird feeder crafts for kids (and kids at heart) to enjoy.

  • Bird Feeder Craft for Kids - fruit cup bird-feeder

  • Items needed:
    • A grapefruit or an orange
    • Bird seed

    1. Cut a grapefruit or orange in half. (Adult should help!)
    2. Scoop out the fruit (be sure to eat it up - yummy)
    3. Place bird seed in the empty half and place it outside on a window sill.
    4. Be very quiet while watching the birds - it will be a great bird feast!

  • Bird Feeder Craft for Kids - Suet Bird Feeder

  • Items needed:
    • Suet (you can find this at grocery stores)
    • Bird Seed
    • Netting 8"x8" size works nicely

    1. If your suet is a large piece, cut into smaller sections.
    2. Allow children to roll suet in bird seeds
    3. Place suet in a piece of netting (the 8" x 8" size works great)
    4. Pull netting up around suet and tie at top with string or ribbon
    5. Hang netting from a tree or shrub and watch the birds feast!

  • Simple Bird Feeder Craft - Bread Crust Bird Feeder

  • Instead of wasting those crusts of bread, have your child poke a hole in the top of the crust (about 3/4 inch from the top). Leave the crust out on the counter to dry out overnight, then tie a piece of yarn or string through the hole. Take it outside and hang it on a tree - easy bird feeder.

I hope these easy bird feeder craft ideas for kids inspired you to make your own bird feeder crafts. Kid crafts are an important part of child development and by helping your children with crafts, you are helping them reach their full potential.
